100 Days Smarter!

We celebrated our 100th day of school on Tuesday, February 13th!  The kids cut out the number 100 and then wrote a 100 letter caption to accompany their creations:

Valentine's Day Festivities

Valentine's Day is always a highlight!  We made our adorable Valentine treat bags for Morning Work; Joel's mother read two Valentine's books as our guest readers; and of course, we passed out our Valentine's:

Commonwealth Museum Field Trip

On Friday we were so lucky to go to the Commonwealth Museum ~ the state museum of Massachusetts!

Our first activity involved playing a state symbols game followed by making state symbols posters:

After lunch we explored the activities.  Check out the kids "working" in the Lowell Mills:

Gabi the Dog's DNA Results

For Christmas, my younger son, Andrew, gave us a DNA testing kit for Gabi the Dog:

We always knew she was a mutt, but now we know what breeds she has in her:

At the top of her family tree, a Siberian Husky and a Shar-pei mate, and the rest is history!

The Mayflower Compact

The Massachusetts State Social Studies standards require that students know about the Mayflower Compact.  How cool and amazing would it be to see William Bradford's diary and the draft of the Mayflower Compact!

Right now my husband and I are on the high-speed train to New York City for the weekend to visit our daughter, Bethany.  More on that later!

Happy Weekend and School Vacation Week (if applicable!)!!!
