Pantone Color of the Year

I LOVE color A LOT!  I'm always intrigued by the "Color of the Year."  This year's color is classic blue!

Morning Messages

Morning Messages are so important to my classroom.  I use them to review and reinforce what we're learning in class.  Right now, it's fossils, but I often include empathy because I think this is the word that represents an important life skill.

Tarrytown, New York ~ Home of Sleepy Hollow

Last weekend my husband and I met our daughter in Tarrytown, New York.  She took the train, and we drove a little over 3 hours.  Of course, everything ~ Washington Irving's home, Sunnyside; the Rockefeller Estate;..~ is closed until May.  Luckily, Tarrytown is next to White Plains which is a busy and bustling place where there was a T.J. Maxx which always helps when everything else is not cooperating.

On Sunday, my sister and niece came to join us for lunch, and we visited Patriot Park.  This place is significant due to the capture of Major Andre (a British soldier dressed like and American).

Whale Day!

Last week our PTO treated us to a fun-filled, in-school adventure from the New England Aquarium about whales.  There was a giant blow-up right whale (the Massachusetts state marine mammal) that centered the program.  The kids had the opportunity to visit a variety of centers all about whales as well as get up close to the blow-up whale.  Check it out:

Here's my class in me in front of the whale!

This week I've been on school vacation so I've been organizing my closet and my school "stuff."  I also managed to get a chest cold so I've been "forced" to rest ~ which is something I rarely do!

Please make sure to press the Friday Favorites button to check out more amazing blogs, and, as always, thank you for checking in today!

Fabulous February ~ Currently!

Today I'm linking up with Anne in Residence for:

Loving:

I'm always looking for new picture books to read to my students, and this list is chock-full of new titles.  Click here to check it out!

One book I'm particularly intrigued by is Fry Bread.  This is the story of a Native American family and bonding over food.

Embracing:

One Sunday morning I was listening to the radio and an interview with author Sarah Ban Breathnach
who wrote Simple Abundance ~ a book of evocative essays - one for every day of the year - for women who wish to live by their own lights.

I went to the library and have been reading this delightful and reassuring book.  It's definitely a mindset I'd love to embrace!  There's also a newer version that has been updated.

Tasting:

I just love Trader Joe's and their frozen foods.  They're easy to make and delicious.  This is a new one I've tried out and would recommend:

Wearing:

My new favorite and cozy sweatshirt comes straight from Amazon:

Preparing:

Next week is the 100th day of school and Valentine's Day!  Best of all, February vacation starts on Friday.  We'll all need a vacation after this exciting and busy week!

Happy Valentine's Day!
