Here's a new and different take on New Year's Resolutions: List 10 things you probably WON'T do this year! What a genius idea from Marsha in the Middle!
I definitely won't be going to Antarctica! I've always wanted to go there to see all the penguins, BUT with a husband who cannot tolerate cold temperatures, I'll be lucky IF I ever travel anywhere below freezing again!
I won't be buying a treadmill! Last weekend, my sister and I traveled to NYC to take some in-person classes at Peloton Studios. We took a treadmill class with Emma Lovewell (who is one of my favorite instructors). This was my first time on a treadmill, and amazingly, I didn't fall off. Of course, I held onto the treadmill with two hands during the entire class. I just prefer to walk outside!
I won't be crocheting! For years, I wanted to take up crocheting again. This year, I'll be making two birth announcement cross stitches as both my sons are each having a boy this summer!
Check out the cross stitches I made for my sons:
I didn't put glass over either of these, and they are fine. Unfortunately, the one I made for my daughter (which has glass) got ruined when condensation got under the glass.
I won't be using this foot scrubber! I read on Instagram that you're supposed to wash your feet every day (I just let the water in the shower rinse off my feet). In addition, I don't like bending over while standing on my leg because I'm afraid of falling. Anyway, I purchased this foot scrubber on Amazon:
I don't like how it feels! I haven't tackled this how-to-wash-my-feet without endangering myself yet. If you've figured it out, please let me know!
I won't be climbing any ladders outside to clean windows. Over the years, I've fallen and broken several bones. Now that I'm 65, I am no longer climbing ladders. Instead I will use this:
I won't be enjoying the chore of dusting my house. Dusting was my childhood chore. Every Saturday I had to dust. UGH! I still dislike this chore!
I won't watch violent TV shows; they give me nightmares! I bought PBS as part of my Prime TV, and I have been watching a lot of great shows. My husband and I just finished watching Les Misérables,
and in June, we are going to see the play in Boston!
I won't be buying my books. I am a loyal library patron! Plus, I love returning the books when I'm done so they don't take up space in my house.
Happy New Year! I hope 2026 is going well for you. Thanks for visiting the blog today!
