3-2-1 Biography!

I'm officially on vacation - FINALLY!  A lot of bloggers are already starting to prepare for Back to School...  Today I'm linking up with Bright Concepts 4 Teachers!:

1 - 2.  I'm always looking for ways to improve, and this includes trying "experiments" that are often outside my comfort zone.  For example, this year I decided to try Nearpod - disaster; but Kahoot, that was the BEST!  Also, making wetus out of pipe cleaners was frustrating, but they did come out cute.

Luckily, I had the best para - Mrs. Brown; and the best parent helpers - Ms. Paula and Ms. Jo-Anne!  They went along with my crazy "experiments" and never complained!

3.  I LOVE to ham it up when I read out loud - so much fun!  When a book character screams, I scream, too.  Luckily, everyone on the floor knows that I'm just "reading."

1.  A little over six years ago, my father fell on ice and broke his femur....It's been a rough road for him, and I've always been there for him.  This past Good Friday, we found out he had lung cancer, and he's getting weak and can no longer live alone so he's living here where Gabi the Dog keeps her eye on him all day!

This is an older picture - of course, he gives her A LOT of treats which makes Gabi even more attentive.

2.  I LOVE being outside as much as possible.  I LOVE the feel of warm sun on my skin and breathing in the fresh air.

Ever since I saw the Brady Bunch go on the mule train in the Grand Canyon, I've wanted to do the same.

Make sure to head over to Bright Concepts 4 Teachers to link up!

p.s. My vacation started yesterday so I'm hoping to blog more now!

  1. I've heard of Kahoot before and that the students really love it, I'm going to have to give it a try with my class this year. I read aloud the same way you do. This year I read part of Because of Mr. Terupt to my students and there was a know-it-all girl in the book, to read her chapters I channeled my inner valley girl from Clueless. I'm so sorry about your dad, that's such a difficult thing to go through, I went through it when my grand mom had lung cancer & lived with my mom.

  2. I think it's great that you are always exploring ways in which to be a better teacher! It's a great way to keep your teaching fresh, and to motivate your students. I love read aloud time too! I just wish there was more time for it each day. I love that you help bring the book to life and I'm sure your students love it too! I'm so sorry to hear about your dad, but he is very lucky to have you and your sweet dog to be by his side. Thank you for linking up with us for Weekend Warriors this month!

  3. You are a hero! I love that you are taking care of your father. Not everybody would do that. It is a very selfless act. I love reading aloud too. I feel like I can be the worst actress in the world and the kids will eat it up! Thank you for linking up with Weekend Warriors and sharing some of YOU with us! -Jaime

  7. Read alouds are fabulous no matter what grade we teach! KIDS absolutely love it and it brings the classroom community together every day to enjoy our favorite books! Bless your heart for caring for your dad. He is so lucky to have you! My mom has cared for our family members that way, and somehow that is the most special time to get to really know and understand them. She tells me still that for all the pain, she would do it over and over again because she loved having that time with them. I'm so glad that I got to know you better today! Thanks for joining our linky. WE hope to have you back next month too!
