Currently July: Independence and Summer!

Hello there!  Happy July and welcome to Anne in Residence's monthly link-up:

Traveling

In August, we are planning a trip to Quebec City!  I have never been, but it has a very European feel to it.  Plus, we can drive there, and it takes a little over 6 hours!

Missing or Not!

I finished school on Friday, June 24th!  This means that I am finally on vacation, and I have time to do fun activities!  Consequently, I bought a games subscription to the New York Times for $5 a month.  I am not sure that I will have time to do the games after I go back to school in September, but the games are a fun daily diversion.  I'm amazingly loving the Tiles Game in which you need to keep matching at least one element of each tile to another:

This is an example.  I hope my eyesight improves from doing these!

Enjoying

What's not to enjoy about the summer?  Our weather has been in the 70's and low 80's!  There is usually a breeze.  I get to go in my pool and do my water aerobics.  Plus, I get to read a lot!  I just finished this book:

In this book, three women who live in 3 different time periods, struggle with similar situations.  This book was a Good Morning America Book Club selection.  If you're looking for new book recommendations, head to their site and pick out your next book!

Realizing

I just picked a new bathing suit top on Amazon Smile.  I just realized that all my old ones are stretched out.  Check it out:

A few things I love about this:
1.   It covers my chest.
2.  The geometric and colorful pattern.
3.  Tummy control.

Did you know that if you shop on Amazon Smile, a small portion of your purchase goes to a charity of your choice?  I donate my percentage to a local pet shelter, PAWS of Wakefield.

Hoping

I am hoping that author Ewa Erdman who visited our school in June, can sell lots of copies of her book:

The author adopted a three legged pitbull who became a therapy dog for amputees and other rehab patients.  In addition, Ewa donates all proceeds to animal shelters!

Here is a picture of Ewa and me when she visited our school:

As always, I appreciate that you visited my blog today!  Please let me know if you have any book recommendations or ideas for what to do in Quebec City.

Currently Just June ~ End of the School Year & Summer!

Happy June!  Thank you for visiting the blog today as I link up with Anne in Residence for her delightful monthly link-up as well as  Erika from A Little Bit of Everything and Andrea from Momfessionals for Friday Favorites!:

Celebrating

My daughter is getting married on Sunday, June 12th in Haydenville, Massachusetts at
Valley View Farm
:

Giving

I adopted a Woburn High School senior who was a former student.  I needed to spend $50 dollars, and here is what I bought:

and a tool set:

In addition, I got him a Hydraflask at TJMaxx.

I got these ideas from a web site about what to get 2022 high seniors for graduation.  You can check it out here!

Taking

I am taking life in my classroom one day at a time.  Currently, the kids are arguing and treating each other like siblings.  They are in school until June 24th so every day is an adventure!

Consequently, I saw a rule on Instagram which I just found on Amazon (of course!).

I put up this rule about three weeks ago, and the kids and I discuss these ideas frequently.  The results are mixed, but I will continue to work on everyone getting along.

Trying

Every day I try to get my Morning Message to correlate to what we are learning in class.  Amazingly, we just started learning about fossils in time for:

Wearing

Although we have had some spring and summer days here in Massachusetts, the weather has been cool.  As much as I want to wear sandals, I have mostly been wearing slip-on sneakers with socks.  I really do not like having cold feet.  Plus, my classroom has strong air conditioning!  These are my current go-to shoes!

Thank you for checking in today!

Currently ~ Magnificent May & Friday Favorites!

Happy May Everyone!  Welcome to another exciting month!  It's time to link up with Anne in Residence for her monthly link-up and with Erika from A Little Bit of Everything and Andrea from Momfessionals for Friday Favorites!

Consuming

This past week was Teacher Appreciation Week.  Our PTO did a travel theme, and every day, we had special treats from Italian food for lunch to nachos for Cinco de Mayo.  It was an amazing week for delicious treats!

Feeling

Spring brings on hope for warmer weather and longer days.  In Massachusetts, it doesn't really warm up until June, but if the sun is shining, it feels warmer.  More importantly, as long as it doesn't rain, the kids can go out for recess, and they need to have time to run around and play!

Finding

Scaredy Squirrel has a new book:

This new book is a chapter book!  There are 4 chapters.  I have read the first chapter to my students; Scaredy Squirrel receives a crate of unknown origin.  You can guess that Scaredy goes into panic mode!  Click here or on the book cover to check out more at Amazon!

Following

Every week, I check out Nordstrom Rack and TJ Maxx for new arrivals.  I'm still on the lookout for a new dress and sandals.

Spending

My new goal includes finding a dress to wear to my daughter's rehearsal dinner and a pair of sandals to wear to the wedding.  I can definitely wear the sandals I wore to my younger son's wedding and a dress I wore already.  I just can't pass up an opportunity to find a new dress and sandals though!  I have these dresses on order from Nordstrom Rack:

Here's to hoping that spring is in the air where you live!  Thank you for visiting the blog today!  Make sure to check out other great blog posts for:

Currently ~ Amazing April & Spring is on the way!

Happy Amazing April!  Today I am so happy to link up with Anne in Residence for:

Getting:

Right now I am getting ready for my daughter's wedding in June.  I am wearing this dress, and I need sandals to
go with it:

(Today I discovered this dress on the Nordstrom Rack site for a fraction of what I paid last summer, and I waited until it was on sale!)

Anyway, I did find these pretty blue sandals:

I have them in my cart so we will see how they look in real life.

Going:

During April vacation, my husband and I are heading to New Orleans.  So far, our plans include a jazz concert and an airboat ride in the bayou.  If you have any travel tips for New Orleans, please let me know in the comments!  We are both looking forward to our first trip and both got our 2nd boosters last night!

Planning:

Today my plans include going to the library to get some new children's books to read to my class.  We just got the rug back in my classroom, and the kids are so excited to come over to the rug!  I have been reading e-books on the "big screen" in class so that everyone could see the book as well as social distance.  It makes me so happy to have some normalcy in school.

Last week I read this fun book:

The narrator actually mail orders a sloth which proceeds to sleep the day away.  The "smartest" girl in class criticizes the sloth.  My students had a lot to say about this "perfect" girl.

Posting:

Well, I am posting right now, and I promise myself that I will post every weekend, but I just can't seem to reach my goal.

Thinking:

I love being able to crack my windows and let some fresh air into the house.  You can tell the sun is stronger.  Spring is such a hopeful time of the year.

As always, thank you for popping in for a visit!

Currently Make A Wish March! What are you wishing for?

Happy Read Across America and Hump Day!  This is a major miracle!  I am posting twice in one week!  I am so delighted today to link up with Anne in Residence for:

Collecting

Whenever I go to Whole Foods, I check out the plants.  I have been buying these Money Trees for $16.99 which is a great price.  I was just researching them online, and they are much more expensive.  Plus, it's a miracle when anything is affordable and well-priced in Whole Foods.  I buy these plants and give them as gifts when someone loses a family member or when someone needs some good fortune.  After all, who doesn't need more luck or money?

Craving

I crave comfort food, especially since winter came crashing back after one day of 60 degree weather.  I bought some wide egg noodles in Job Lot, and the thought of having them with butter, made me so happy.  Here are the exact noodles I bought:
Picturing

Now that we just had 10 inches of snow, I can picture the changing seasons because I know spring will arrive so soon.  Also, this week, I will be reading this book to my students as part of our Fountas & Pinnell reading program.

Playing

Wordle and Spellie (the kid's version)!  When I first heard about Wordle on the radio, I knew my husband would love it because he's always playing Word Cookies.  Well, now I have to play every day, too.  I recently heard the NY Times bought Wordle for a tremendous amount of money.  Wow!

Wishing

I really wish and hope that I keep blogging more regularly.  I find it very rewarding to share and record my thoughts.  This way I can remember what has been happening in my life.  I find that, now that I am 61 years old, I tend to forget rather quickly.  I especially would like to remember the books I read!

Well, that is all for now.  As always, I appreciate you visiting the blog.  If you connected with anything in this post, please leave me a comment!  Wishing you all good luck, health and happiness in March!

Currently ~ Jubilant January

Happy New Year!  I wish you much health and happiness in 2022!  I am linking up with Anne in Residence for:

Anticipating

These days I am looking forward to feeling comfortable living life without worrying about getting sick or worse, making someone else sick.  I did get a PCR test yesterday, and it was negative.  I feel lucky to know this before going back to school tomorrow!

Organizing

My most recent organizing accomplishment is cleaning out the silverware drawer.  There was so much unnecessary things in the drawer, and now it is clean and neat.

Reading

I just starting reading this delightful book:

You can click on the book cover to read more at Amazon as I have only read the first few chapters.  The good news is that I can tell that I will finish this book!

 Resolving

I desperately need to stop eating so many cookies and other treats.  Once I start eating these delicious and sweet treats, I can't stop.

Scheduling

My hairdresser got Covid so I have scheduled a new haircut for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  I am looking forward to getting a wash and cut.

As always, thank you for popping in to the blog.  I am hoping to write more blog posts this year.

Currently December!

Happy Delightful December!  Welcome to another monthly installment of Anne in Residence's:

Decorating

I decorate with snowmen and snowflakes so I can keep my decorations up all winter!

Feeling

I feel like school is more manageable.  My students know the routines and expectations.  We made amazing Native American dioramas for Thanksgiving.  When my students are happy, I'm happy!

 Sending

I'll be sending/gifting these sea glass creations by  @designsbyheidib to my children for Christmas:

Smelling

Yesterday my friend and I went to a church fair.  Upon entering, someone from the kitchen was bringing up a fresh baked batch of cinnamon buns.  Yum!

Wrapping

Here is my confession:  I never wrap anything.  I only use gift bags.  I keep all my received gift bags and use them again.  I am just too lazy to wrap gifts when I can just pop them into a bag!

In closing, I love this meme so I'm ending with this thankful message:
