Hello there!  Today I am linking up with Momfessionals and A Little Bit of Everything for Friday Favorites!  In addition, I'm just popping in quickly with a last minute reminder that tomorrow:  March 21st, is World Down Syndrome Day as well as Lots of Socks Day!

I have even prepared my Morning Message for tomorrow!

New Whiteboard!

In other exciting news, I got a new whiteboard for my classroom.  It's not an interactive whiteboard, per se, but you can write directly on it!  It's also magnetic!

That's it for this quick post.  Thank you for visiting and make sure to visit other bloggers who linked up for:

Beautiful Cardinal!

Check out this most beautiful cardinal that was chirping loudly and clearly in my front yard this morning:

We just had two nor'easters in one week, but the sky is getting bluer every day as we move toward spring!

World Down Syndrome Day Post

On the collaborative blog, Conversations From The Classroom, I posted a new blog post about #lotsofsocksday and why March 21st is an important date.  Click here or on the picture to read all about it:

http://www.conversationsfromtheclassroom.com/2018/03/get-those-socks-ready-world-down.html

The WDSD recommend wearing, “not just any socks, brightly colored socks, mismatched socks, long socks, printed socks, one sock. Maybe even three socks, one for each chromosome.”

Another Hand Adjective Example

Currently ~ Marvelous March!

Happy Marvelous March!  Today I'm linking up with Anne In Residence

http://www.anneinresidence.com/2018/03/currently.html

I've been planning activities for World Down Syndrome Day which is on March 21st.  This year's theme colors are blue and yellow.  In addition, on this day, you're supposed to wear mismatched socks as a way to acknowledge this special day.

Last year, my students and I wore mismatched socks and drew a pair, too:

Seeing ~ Spring Books!

Spring is in the bookstore, and it makes me so happy!

books

I just LOVE having new books to check out ~ especially when it signifies spring ~ a season full of hope and improving weather!

Making

I made a new "Lots of Socks" activity and posted it on TPT.  Click here to check it out for free!

 Pretending = Daydreaming

I am a HUGE daydreamer!  These days I'm daydreaming that I'm sitting by a pool in warm weather, and that my legs are tanned!  Of course, it does help that my husband and I are going to Delray Beach, Florida in April!

Wearing

This is my favorite part of the post!  I just signed up for a Style and Styleability course which includes a March Style Challenge:

 Style and Styleability.

I love having a goal when I'm selecting my clothes for the next day.  Do you pick out your clothes the night before?  This is my routine to prevent having to think too much in the morning while I'm on auto-pilot!

As always, thank you so much for visiting today!  I appreciate you taking time to read my blog!  Have a wonderful rest of the week!

What a week ~ Five For Friday!

Every week seems to fly by when we're working so hard!  We learned a LOT last week so I'm looking forward to linking up with Doodle Bugs!

Morning Messages

I try to make my Morning Messages as relevant and educational as possible:

#LOTSOFSOCKS

My students (mainly the girls) and I had fun wearing mismatched socks on World Down Syndrome Day:

At Morning Meeting, we had a meaningful discussion of visible and invisible disabilities.
Non-Fiction Text Features

When I explained that we would all be making our own Non-Fiction Text Feature poster, several kids exclaimed, "We already did this!"  Immediately upon passing out the headings, someone asked, "What's a caption?"  It just goes to prove how much we need to spiral back and review:

That turkey sandwich from Time For Kids looks so delicious!

Book Recommendations

If you're looking for a fun and humorous book, you definitely need to read:

https://www.amazon.com/I-Yam-Donkey-Cece-Bell/dp/0544087208/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1490460861&sr=8-1&keywords=i+yam+a+donkey
Click on book to read more at Amazon.

The donkey insists on misusing the verb, "to be."  The kids LOVED this book, and sometimes, you just need a book to make everyone happy ~ in addition, to reviewing helping verbs!

I also started reading this chapter book during snack:

https://www.amazon.com/Clementine-Spring-Trip-Book/dp/1423124375/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1490461092&sr=8-1&keywords=clementine+and+the+spring+trip
Click on book for more details.

First, Clementine and her family live right in Boston; they visit the "Make Way For Ducklings" statues in the Public Garden ~ all in the first chapter!  The class field trip is to Plymouth Plantation!  This is a perfect read-aloud to spiral back to review the Pilgrims, and it's a fun book, too!

I'm taking part in a giveaway.  Click here to enter!

Also, there's a hashtag sale at TPT:  #springbackin ~ all products are $3.00.  I've included this product:

It's marked down to $3.00!  Please check out the sale and other Five For Fridays!

Better Late Than Never ~ Five For Friday ~ Finally!

I'm finally linking up with Doodle Bugs for Five For Friday!

Morning Messages

Last week we had a snow day due to a nor'easter.  In addition, we wrapped up our chapter on landforms and focused on suffixes in spelling:

How to Brush Your Teeth

Last week the kids started to share their "how to" paragraphs:

We recently wrapped up our "Expert Book" unit so the kids are choosing to continue with writing chapter books that include a cover and an about the author page!

Front Row

In Computer Lab, the kids have been enjoying Front Row:

Front Row   is free and includes a huge variety of ELA and Math activities.  Even better, the kids LOVE doing this!  If you've never heard of it, check it out here.

Here's a close-up of a measurement question:

Lost Tooth Traditions and Stories

Last week the kids began writing about a time they lost a tooth.  The stories are quite extraordinary, too!

First, we read this great book:

https://www.amazon.com/Throw-Your-Tooth-Roof-Traditions/dp/0618152385/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1489925617&sr=8-1&keywords=throw+your+tooth+on+the+roof+tooth+traditions+from+around+the+world
Click on the cover for more details on Amazon.

We love learning what other kids do when they lose a tooth.  Let's just say that several countries have tooth "rats!"

#LOTSOFSOCKS Reminder

March 21st is World Down Syndrome Day (click here to read the original post).  The best part = wearing unmatched, colorful socks!  How fun!

Make sure to use the hashtag #LOTSOFSOCKS!

Also, make sure to visit Doodle Bugs for more:
