September - Pick 3 Back to School Pinterest Ideas - Link-Up!

It's a miracle.  I'm posting two days in a row!  Of course, I should be organizing and cleaning, but this is so much more fun!  Today I'm linking up with Pawsitively Teaching, Just Reed, and Inspired Owl's Corner for:

I'm a huge anchor chart fan so my first pin centers on those important beginning of the year ones:

I love everything about this Pin.  In addition, this teacher recommends a book you can buy to improve your anchor charts.  This is a must-see Pin for any anchor chart enthusiast!

The next Pin uses an idea that I actually do every year.  In this activity, we start with a big heart made of construction paper.  Each time a student shares something mean that was said to him/her, I fold the heart.  When the heart becomes all folded and small, we go around and share a compliment that was said.  Each time a student shares a compliment, I unfold the heart.  As a class, we discuss what has happened to our hear.  However, this teacher improves upon the idea by having each student fold and unfold his or her own heart:

I remember learning about this activity as an adult, and I found it so powerful.  Words are powerful and can hurt.  I even encourage my students to try this activity at home.

Enemy Pie by Derek Munson is one of my favorite read-alouds.  I love how this Pin shares even more activities to do with the book.

  1. That book looks great! I struggle with my anchor charts- to the point that I always want to print out most of it because I'm not artistic at all! I love both of your book choices- they are my favorite back to school books! Thank you so much for linking up and sharing your pins with us! :)
