Welcome to a Wonderful Wednesday Hodgepodge!

Hello friends!  I'm so happy you're here to join me for this week's installment of:

1. They say you learn something new every day. What did you learn yesterday?

I learned that my students still get really excited to chew gum during the MCAS (state test).  Between chewing gum and sprinkling magic glitter on their desks, taking these tests is little more fun!

2. Have you ever had a now or never moment? Elaborate.

When my husband and I were in Florida, we had the great opportunity to kayak in the Everglades!  I'm obsessed with this giant swamp and how important it is to the ecosystem.  I loved being able to get up close to all the amazing birds!

3.  April 25th is National Telephone Day. Do you still have a land line or have you gone mobile only? When you receive a text message do you respond immediately? Last time you turned your phone off?  In two or three sentences share with us a story/memory/incident from your childhood (or something current if that's too hard) where the telephone is featured.

I absolutely still have a land line!  I don't carry my cell phone on my person so I do NOT respond to text messages immediately.  My phone is OFF right now!

Last May my husband was putting on his shoes on the side of the bed when his hip replacement dislocated, and he fell to the floor in agony.  Of course, he was alone in the house, and his cell was on the bureau on the other side of the room.  Lucky for him, the house phone was on his nightstand, and he was able to call 911.

4. Close call, at someone's beck and call, call the shots, call a meeting, call it quits, call in sick, call on the carpet, wake up call...which call have you 'heard' recently? Explain.

I recently had a close call with my "elderly" Honda Pilot.  It had an exhaust leak; the dealer said it would cost $1,500 to repair (that's what the car's worth ~ more or less!).  Luckily, I was able to bring the car to an auto shop that specializes in exhaust work, and my car is all fixed at a cost of $235!

5. What subject do you wish you'd paid more attention to in school?

I wished I paid attention in English ~ maybe I would have learned how to write better at an earlier (younger) age!

  1. We still have a land line too because we don’t always get great cell reception. Glad you got your car fixed for a lot less, car troubles are so bad partly because you can’t be sure who to trust.

  2. If you can learn the essential, totally rationally consistent metaphysical structure of the separation, it provides you with a framework in which the whole thing just fits into place. A Course in Miracles by David HHoffmeister is teaching this metaphysical structure, but it is not always very obvious. Its obscure nature tends to lead people to not even realize there is a solid "core" to the Course or that you can use this structure to perfectly explain everything the ego does, the meaning of death, and what must be true based on it.
For example, separation from God is not possible, because you cannot be somewhere that God is absent. God is everywhere. This immediately tells us that, logically, to believe that this is possible is insanity. It also must tell us that to believe in such a separation is to believe in a dream, a fiction, something which is false or not true and not real. This is already the beginning of some very solid metaphysics, and many people grasp this basic starting point.ACIM Spiritual Community
