Fabulously Fashionable for Fabulist Friday & Five For Friday!

Hello Friday!  That means it's time to link up for one BRAND NEW & EXCITING link-up:

This is Emily's first link-up which coincides with my first Stitch Fix so I hope you'll check out her blog to learn more.  Click here to check it out:
Emily from Style to Classroom!

                                                                              and

                                                        Doodle Bugs Teaching!

This week I got my first Stitch Fix box.  Here are the outfits with my husband's commentary in red:

                                                       "You look like a tablecloth"

See the R2D2 trash barrel?  My daughter transformed my ordinary red barrel into a piece of art.

I was showing the draft of this blog entry to my friend, Cheryl, who said, "That was really mean.  Who said that?"  My answer:  my husband - who else would say these thing?

                                                "Definitely not your style."

(plus the sleeves were tight at the bottom - must be all those weights I lift.)

"It's alright.  The shirt is cute."

(I liked the shirt and pants, but the pants were kind of baggy at the hips, probably because they are not petites, and the shirt was cute, but the yellow was kind of dull.)

I kept ONE thing out of my box:  the necklace.  It is bright and colorful, and I was actually thinking that I needed a statement necklace so now I have one.

We finished our Math MCAS test!  We practiced and prepared so the kids were ready.  Of course, we are still going to be doing plenty of math and plenty of review.  Now that they have worked so hard to improve their math skills, I want to keep the ball rolling.  After all, if you don't practice, you forget.

Don't they say that elephants have good memories?  Of course, my memory isn't what it used to be.

In Science we're learning about plants.  We're also learning about simple plants like moss and liverworts.  I don't know if I've ever seen a liverwort, but I do like the word, and the kids seem to be able to remember it, too.

My son, Andrew, went to the Bruins vs. Canadiens play-off  hockey game at Boston Garden last night.  He paid around or at least $280 for his ticket.  Some of my students were so excited when they heard he had gone to the game.  My first thought was "How can he spend so much money to go to a hockey game?"  He did pay for the ticket himself; I just would never spend that much money....Am I sounding old?  Cheap?  Like my mother?

I started reading a new chapter book to the kids while they eat snack:

This is an old book, and my copy is quite worn and tattered, but there is something timeless about this book that makes me read it every year.  Plus the kids love it, too.  I found the second book in the series at a yard sale recently so I'm going to read that at Book Box time - after I finish reading Ginger Pye.  I read after lunch when the kids read - I'm trying to set a good example.  Plus, it's quite relaxing and calming to read after lunch.

Happy Weekend!

  1. Cute outfits! I don't think you looked like a table cloth. I am thinking of trying Stitch Fix. Right now I get Birchbox & Ipsy - which is product samples.

  3. Well Susan, I think you would look BEAUTIFUL wearing anything! Remember, "If you have beautiful thoughts......." and YOU always have beautiful thoughts!!! Maybe you should wrap a table cloth around you and show hubby what that would really look like. LOL.
