Anchors Away!

Hello there!  I'm linking up today with Deb for:

http://crafting-connections.blogspot.com/2014/10/anchors-away-monday-10614-contractions.html

This was my Morning Message for today, and it really sums up what we'll be focusing on this week:

At the beginning of the week, we're learning about Johnny Appleseed by reading several book about him.  They we'll write a haiku and complete a Johnny Appleseed craft.  Later in the week, we'll be reading about Christopher Columbus.  We talked about the lunar eclipse at Morning Meeting today, but it's doubtful that we'll see it due to clouds.  I'm still holding up some hope.

I also wanted to share my CAFE board where I post reading strategies as well as student reading goals:

I refer to these strategies a lot when we're reading books on the rug.  I'm also finding that I refer to these strategies when we're doing math word problems, especially the comprehension strategy.   It's hard for the kids to know when to multiply or divide so they need to use math and reading strategies.

Thanks for checking in today!

  1. I love the little pictures you added to your Morning Message! I learned lots of things from this chart, too! I didn't know about the lunar eclipse, and I didn't know that Johnny Appleseed was born in Massachusetts! I love your CAFE board, too! Thanks for linking up!

  2. Hi Susan. The meetup was so fun :) I was curious to see what others wrote about it as well. To answer your question, I got my cards printed for next to nothing at Vistaprint. The design options were limited, but fine for my needs. You just need to keep an eye out for deals (they have a mailing list). Anyway, I hope you're having a good year. Is your class still loving your dog blog?
