Author Jarrett J. Krosoczka who created the "Lunch Lady" series of books, spearheaded a campaign to make Friday, May 3rd,  School Lunch Superhero Day.  Yesterday the kiddos wrote thank you notes to our cafeteria personnel.  There are a total of ten people who help with school lunch every day, and there are 20 students in the class.  I made 2 tickets for each lunch person, and the kids picked a name out of a hat.  That means each lunch person will receive 2 letters of appreciation.
Next week is School Nutrition Employee Week (May 6 - 10) so it's not too late to thank your school lunch employees. Here is a link to a thank you letter template that I posted to Teachers Pay Teachers that you can download for free.

My students really enjoyed writing letters to the cafeteria workers and lunch monitors; and I bet these people get very little appreciation.
